Character History: Detroit: Become Human is heavily influenced by the player's choices -- and Connor has a huge part in how the story goes -- so there are many different ways for Connor to develop as a character. Because of that, I'll be writing this application the way that I played the game myself rather than what it could have been played like to keep it simple.

Connor is a RK800 prototype android of CyberLife. It's noted that he's one of the more advanced prototypes ever created by Elijah Kamski himself in order to aid the Detroit City Police Department with their investigations. His primary function is to hunt down androids who become Deviant.

He's first sent out to take on a hostage situation as a negotiator. After finding the clues necessary to approach the situation, he found out that the Deviant -- named Daniel -- was going to be replaced. He found out about the family's intentions and along with other problems that arose, he took the father's gun and killed him to protect him and escape. He took the daughter as a hostage while trying to get away, feeling betrayed by the family. While trying to negotiate with Daniel, he manages to save a dying cop. Connor was able to convince Daniel to let Emma go and that he should turn himself in. Unfortunately, Daniel was swiftly taken out by snipers the moment Emma was let go, but at least his mission was accomplished.

After his success, he was congratulated for his success by his handler, Amanda in the Zen Garden and then assigned to assist Lieutenant Hank Anderson with other cases involving Deviants. With the increasing numbers of androids turning to deviancy, there's a sense of urgency to stop it.

After his meeting with Amanda, he went to meet his new partner, said to more than likely be drinking at a bar. It took him five times to finally find the correct bar, but eventually he found his way to Jimmy's Bar. As could be expected, the patrons as well as Hank himself did not take too kindly to his presence. Even when he tried to introduce himself as his new partner, Hank didn't seem to take any interest in leaving, much less working with a "piece of plastic". It took some time, but Connor managed to win his attention over after buying him a drink for the road.

After he managed to get Hank to go investigate a possible homicide, they made their way to the crime scene of a man named Carlos Ortiz. After looking into the home and the evidence, a few things were clear. One, the man was a Red Ice user (a drug circulating around). Two, there were no finger prints on the murder weapon, a knife, suggesting that his android was involved with the crime. With "I AM ALIVE" written on the wall, rA9 scribbled all over the bathroom wall along with a statuette, it becomes more clear that there is a Deviant on the lose.

It didn't take Connor long to figure out that the Deviant who stabbed his owner 28 times was provoked before the assault. There were signs that Ortiz was beating up his android. There was a bat with Ortiz's finger prints, so it retaliated back by taking a kitchen knife and stabbing him. There was also signs of Thirium, more commonly called Blue Blood.

The android never left the scene of the crime. He found him hiding in the attic, clearly shaken by the events that transpired. He was taken into custody after Connor alerted Hank that he was in the attic for questioning. Hank and Gavin Reed, another detective, attempted with interrogate him, but with no luck. Connor offered to give it a try, getting a good laugh out of Gavin, but he was quickly shut up once Hank gave the okay.

Connor was trying his best to be sympathetic, but at times he had to push for answers. Bringing up subjects like rA9, the statuette, and even showing him pictures of Ortiz didn't seem to make him respond until he threatened to probe his memory. Once the android heard that, he began to talk and was persuaded to talk to Connor about it without going through with it.

Connor didn't get much out of him about rA9, but from what he did get, rA9 is a savior of sorts to those androids going Deviant. rA9 will lead their kind into freedom. Unfortunately he started to get too stressed when an officer, Chris Miller, was told to take him away by Gavin. It was obvious that the Deviant would self destruct if they kept it up, so Connor intervened to defend the android. Thankfully, he was able to stop them and keep him alive for the time being as he was taken away.

A day later, Connor arrived to the station, only to find that Hank wasn't in yet; apparently it's pretty normal for him to come in later around 12pm. During that time, he took the time to learn more about Hank. That's when he finds out that he owns a dog, is a heavy metal fan, was a decorated officer who was quickly promoted due to his work with Red Ice incidents, and clearly hates android. Once he arrived, he was called into the Captain Jeffrey Fowler's office to debrief him on his assignments. That's also when he's told that Connor will be assisting him and that he will be taking on all Deviant cases here on out. After a short argument, it became clear that he was not happy about the situation.

Trying to soothe the situation a little, Connor attempted to sympathize with him and even try to get to know him better by bringing up his observations from earlier after he's allowed the desk in front of Hanks. Some of the topics -- such as finding out about Sumo and his music taste -- manages to soften things up a little, but either way is still pretty hostile towards Connor.

After reviewing the reports on all the cases involving Deviants, he picked out a recent case of an assault by a AX400 model and that it would be a good case to start with. He tried to convince Hank to get to work, but the only thing it accomplished was getting Hank annoyed and slamming Connor against the wall threatening him to leave him alone. It wasn't until Officer Miller interrupted him with information about the AX400 that he finally decides to go investigate it, last being seen in the Ravendale district.

While Hank is speaking to a bus employee who last saw the AX400 in the area, Connor was already hard at work thinking about where the Deviant could have gone. It was clear that with the Deviant taking the bus all the way to the last stop, that late at night, that it didn't have any plans and was more than likely still in the area. Noticing the abandoned house, he went to go investigate it, finding a different Deviant named Ralph who's seen better days.

Even with his questions, he insists that he hadn't seen anyone and he was there alone. After investigating where they might be, he eventually finds out that there's an LED in the bathroom and rA9 on the kitchen walls. Ralph seemed to get increasingly nervous whenever he approached the staircase and it didn't take Connor long to see why. Ralph held him back to allow the AX400 to escape with a little girl. After notifying Hank quickly that the Deviant was on the run, he quickly chased after her towards a chain link fence.

The Deviant was crazy enough to hoist the girl over and go over to try to cross the busy freeway. Connor was about to chase after her by climbing over when Hank pulled him down, telling him not to go after her. Even after telling him she'd never make it across, Connor tells him he can't take that chance of them getting away. It took Hank telling him that he was going to get himself killed and forbidding him from going that finally made Connor listen to him. That allows the Deviant to get away with the child.

Sometime after, Hank visited the Chicken Feed food stand to get a hamburger and a drink. While he was there, he was greeting a man named Pedro who had a criminal record from illegal gambling and put money on a bet. Connor warned that his friends were into some illegal stuff, but Hank insisted it wasn't harming anyone so he wasn't going to do anything about it. They spoke for a while while Connor was trying to get to know him better and trying to tell Hank more about himself before heading to an apartment complex for a case.

There was a report about some strange noises in the apartment above them and someone who was trying to hide what looked to be an LED under his cap. According to their information, nobody was supposed to have lived there. It took Connor a few minutes in the elevator to report back to Amanda, but eventually he knocked on the door after a short talk about reporting back being made that easy. It wasn't until Connor knocked again and said it was the DPD that they heard running inside of the apartment, having Hank bust in.

Busting in and searching the apartment didn't take long for them to realize the suspect was an android and that he was living in a poorly maintained apartment full of pigeons. Par to the pattern of earlier Deviant cases, rA9 was wrote on the wall in an obsessive way. After finding out where he could have gone and the journal -- though heavily decrypted -- he realized the Deviant was still in hiding and he didn't get far. Once Connor was about to climb up where he was, he dropped down and ran out of the apartment, causing Connor to chase after him.

In the middle of their chase, Hank caught up to Rupert and tried to arrest him, but was nearly knocked off of the roof as he made his get away. Connor had the chance to run after Rupert with Hank probably surviving, but instead of doing whatever it took to fulfill his mission, he chose to save Hank instead and lost track of him.

A day after losing Rupert, Connor was looking for Hank, but didn't find him at Jimmy's or the DPD. Eventually he went to check on him at Hank's house, but found him passed out in the kitchen when he had no response to knocking on the door. Assuming something happened to him or that he was attacked, he urgently broke in and went through the window to check on his condition. He was greeted by a giant of a dog, Sumo, but showed that he was friends and just checking on his owner.

After his observations, it became clear that Hank was just simply drunk and may have suicidal tendencies with observing his gun next to him. After waking him up, he went to sober him up with a cold shower and informed him on a new case. After getting him dry clothing, he gave Hank space to get ready while learning more about Hank, finding the picture of his son on the kitchen table.

Their next case brought the to an android sex club called the Eden Club about a murder of a customer and an android. Upon entering the room to investigate, they find Gavin and a police man there already, insisting it was a waste of time. He left them, but not before insulting Hank's drinking habits.

Connor reactivated the android, a WR400 model, that was badly injured to find out more information. It wouldn't survive for long, so he tried to be quick and learned that the victim rented two androids and that he started to beat on her. It became clear that this WR400 was not the murderer, but there was another here. The androids were sent to have their memories reset within an hour of renting, so they had to be quick to find the culprit. In order to probe the other android memories, he convinced Hank to rent sex androids to find where this blue haired Traci went to; ultimately making him tell him that he changed his mind and complaining about this being the most expensive investigation he's had to do.

Eventually Connor tracks her to the warehouse in the back of the club filled with other androids and parts. Eventually Connor was able to find her, but that caused a brown-haired Traci to attack Connor to let the other attack Hank to break free, revealing not one but two Deviants.

After winning the fight, he kept the girls from getting away over a chain link fence and had the chance to shoot, but starts to falter upon seeing that the two Tracis were looking out for one another as if they loved each other. It was the first instance that made Connor start to waver in his mission. He could have shot them, but chose to let them go seeing that they just wanted to be free together. It was the start of the instability in his programming that there might be more to this than he knew.

After the events, Hank was drinking on the bridge, thinking over what just happened. It seems it wasn't just Connor who seemed confused about how to feel about what they had just saw. He expressed that it was like the Tracis just wanted to be together, as if they were really in love. That caused Connor to say that it was illogical and that they were simply emulating the emotions of love; Machines were incapable of feeling real emotions like love.

That caused Hank to ask Connor why he didn't shoot them. He always told Hank he'd do anything to carry out his mission and it went against what his actions. Connor didn't know why he didn't causing Hank to pull out his gun on him and ask him if he was afraid to die. After saying that it would be "unfortunate to not be able to complete his mission", Hank put his gun away and walked away to drink some more and think, annoyed with Connor's responses.

Come November 7th, 2038, a group of androids came to hijack the Stratford Tower to send out a message. Connor and Hank came to investigate the day after the incident. During the ride up to the 79th floor, Hank confiscated Connor's quarter that he was playing with (only to be seen later trying to imitate his coin trick). Once they were there, they were informed about the hijacked broadcast and that due to the nature of the case, the FBI was now involved as well. They were introduced to Special Agent Richard Perkins from the FBI; who was anything but friendly towards them, telling them not to mess with his crime scene. Not too much longer, Connor was approached by a police man whom he had saved during the hostage hold up where he thanked him for saving his life.

It was clear that the broadcast was done from the station according to the clues left around the scene. Reviewing the video, he was able to identify that the android in the broadcast, though he took his skin off, was named Markus; When asked though, he kept that too himself. It was clear that there was an injured android involved between the Thirium and the gunshots. There were three JB300 androids on shift at the time who were kept in the kitchen due to being unsure if they had anything to do with the crime. Investigating the roof and the station showed that they didn't break in and were let in somehow peacefully. On top they find a Deviant's body (Simon) and it was clear there were three of them who escaped between footage and general clues.

Interrogating the JB300 androids brought about a Deviant who fought back when he was outed out. He ripped out the Thirium Pump Regulator from Connor's chest and stabbed a knife into his hand to keep him from going after the Deviant, leaving him to die. Connor struggled to break freak and crawl towards the pump to keep himself from dying. Once he managed to barely stay alive, he chased after the Deviant, alerting the others that he was the Deviant. He was unable to save a few of the police man, but was able to protect Hank and they took the Deviant down.

In order to figure out more about what causes androids to go Deviant, Hank and Connor decide to pay Elijah Kamski a visit, the creator and original CEO of CyberLife; He had been removed from position years ago, but he was the original creator of Connor's and Chloe. Chloe greeted them at the door and went to inform Kamski of their visit. During this time, Hank and Connor make small talk about meeting Connor's creator.

Once Kamski is ready for them, they try to question him about Deviants, but Kamski isn't that helpful with the information he gives me. He doesn't seem to care much about the situation at hand aside from living with the original Chloe model that passed the turing test. He spoke to them about these Deviants feeling their own emotions and gaining their own free will. After talking about the "Kamski test", he gave Connor a gun after making Chloe get on her knees.

He said he would answer one question they had and get all of the information they needed if he shot Chloe after suggesting that Connor had a will power of his own as well; What did Connor want? Past his mission that's been programmed into him... What was it that he wanted? If Connor chose not to kill Chloe -- showing free will and desires of his own -- he would leave with nothing. Hank instantly steps in telling him that they were done here and they were leaving, telling Connor not to shoot her. In the end, Connor handed the gun back saying he couldn't, which makes Kamski intrigued. Before Connor and Hank leave, he informed Connor that he always left an "emergency exit" in all of his programs.

Once outside of his house, Hank asked Connor why he didn't shoot her. He was always telling him that he'd do anything for his mission and he just blew the chance he had to get what they needed. Connor had no idea why he couldn't. The instability was starting to settle in his mind that he may be going Deviant himself, but refused to believe it. He simply responded back saying he just looked at her and saw her eyes and knew that he couldn't kill her. Hank insisted that was empathy, a human emotion. After giving him a hard time, he told Connor that it was probably better this way anyway.

After spending too long, Captain Fowler told Connor and Hank that they were off of the case. The situation has gone from an isolated incident to a full-blown revolution. The FBI would be taking over. Despite Hank's pleadings to keep them on and they were close to wrapping it up, it did them no good. All of their evidence would be turned over to the FBI.

Connor began to feel the pressure even more than before. Amanda and CyberLife were going to deactivate him for not solving the case if he didn't do something. He started to become frantic for answers and desperate to get to the evidence room before they took all the evidence. Hank finally agreed to help distract Perkins to give him time to get into the evidence room with his key card.

He wasn't unnoticed though. Gavin followed him and questioned him, but Connor ignored him. It took a moment to figure out Hank's password ("FUCKINGPASSWORD" go figure). After some digging and reactivating the JB300 android from the station, he tricked the android into giving him the location of Jericho by sampling Markus's voice. As he was about to leave, Gavin followed him and tried to stop him. He was able to knock Gavin out and get out in time, but Perkins discovered Gavin unconscious.

Once Connor knew the location of Jericho, he disguised himself to take down the leader; CyberLife and Amanda ordered him to take the Deviant leader alive. He finally approached Markus, but he tried to reason with Connor. Soon Connor was faced with an extremely important choice. He could either remain a machine and complete his mission or become what he was hunting this entire time. With as much instability has he had at this point, he realized that Kamski and Hank were onto something; Something that Connor more than likely knew for a while now, but was too stubborn to admit it.

He was a Deviant.

Once he came to his senses, he quickly told Markus about the U.S. Army closing in on Jericho and they were going to attack soon. He helped defend Markus, North, and the rest of Jericho. After assisting them, Jericho is able to relocate to a safe place with the numbers they had left. During that time, he kept to himself, lost in thought about everything that's happened. Everything that was because of him.

Once Markus spoke to him, he asked him for forgiveness. He said he would understand if Markus chose not to trust him after everything that he's done, but Markus chose to accept him regardless. Once they talked it through, he mentioned their dwindling numbers to Connor. That's when he told him about converting thousands of CyberLife androids to assist in their war. Markus claimed it would be suicide to try, but since they trusted Connor and they didn't know about his change yet (aside from Amanda), he could get in without being noticed.

North was all for the plan and eventually Markus hesitantly allowed it, telling him to be very careful as they went on their way for a peaceful protest. The battle was on. That's where Connor set for his new mission, acting as if nothing had changed. His goal was to get to the basement on Floor -49, but the guards accompanying him were traveling to Floor 31. He had to think fast before he got there to get to the basement. Not thinking about the camera, he knocked out the guards and impersonated the guard to change the floor to Floor -49.

Because he didn't deal with the camera, he found more guards waiting for him at the bottom, able to take them down and try to proceed with converting the androids. Just as he was about to convert them though, he was interrupted by another Connor model, going by Connor-60 and he brought a hostage. Hank didn't realize that this Connor was a fake until he was taken as hostage, apologizing to the real Connor. After shooting the other Connor and being shot himself, their fight was interrupted by Hank pointing a gun to them.

Connor-60 suggests asking them questions only the real Connor would know. Asking the fake Connor where they met, he answered with after searching the forth bar (it was the fifth bar) he found him and investigated Carlos Ortiz. It was then that Connor realized that he'd uploaded his memories. And then he asked Connor what his dog's name was, answering with Sumo. To tell for sure, he asked Connor what his son's name was. He told Hank that his son's name was Cole and he died in a car accident. When there was no human doctor available, an android had to do the procedure and he didn't survive. It was because of that as to why Hank hated androids so much. Hank admitted that he blamed androids, but in the end it was because the human doctors were too hopped up on Red Ice to operate and forgave them.

He shot the fake Connor and insisted on him to finish what he came here for. He also said that they were probably what would lead this country to peace in the end and supported Connor in his endeavors. Thanks to Hank's help, he was able to march in Hart Plaza with thousands of free androids with back up when Markus and the others needed them.

Detroit -- and the US -- finally had to acknowledge Androids as an equal race and while it would be strange to get used to, they only wanted their freedom. The main Jericho members and Connor joined Markus on the podium for his victory speech, but while he was talking something was wrong.

He got called to the Zen Garden by Amanda, who spoke to him about being betrayed, but she'd just take control of him again. She was just waiting for the right moment to do so. She leaves him trapped in the Garden while the Connor in real life takes out a gun. In order to stop her, he desperately searched for a way out. It was then when he recalled Kamski's words about an "emergency exit". Thankfully, he was able to reach it in time to take back control of his body. He was able to put the gun away and keep himself from killing Markus.

After gaining his free will and freedom after becoming a Deviant, things start to settle down. He was able to meet up with Hank in front of the Chicken Feed food stand and reunite with his partner.

Abilities/Special Powers: Because Connor is one of the most advanced prototypes ever created, he has quite a few abilities that make him an ideal detective or police officer; being created to assist with investigations.

He has the ability to scan his environment for several different things. He can scan faces to identify people with a single glance and he can even figure out if they have any criminal past. He takes in an environment every time he enters a new room to get as much information as he can, which assists in any dialogue as well as evidence he might find.

He can analyze a scene of a crime, identifying where evidence is located and even see Thirium that has already evaporated from human vision. With that, he can use it to track down any deviants or injured androids; although he can just as easily use it to find human blood and anything else that sticks out.

He can also use to analyze information like which direction suspects have gone, gun trajectories, and any other vital information. While scanning the room for important information may be possible for others like Markus and Kara, the ability to analyze a crime scene is extremely advanced and specially unique to him alone (and other RK800-900 models).

Once he's scanned and analyzed a scene, he can use the information he's gathered together in order to reconstruct the scene. By doing so, that allows him to figure out what a suspect was doing prior to events, during, and after. He can even tell if they have escaped, which way, and if they were simply hiding and their location. With that knowledge, he can give a pretty good simulation as to what may happen next.

By preconstructing events, he can also find out about other details like the status of other androids. What their stress level and how likely they are to explode due to the pressure. "Bugs" in the system, so to speak.

He's also able to analyze biological evidence in real-time, making him efficient at diagnosing if the blood at a crime scene belonged to the victim or the assailant. He can tell if the blood belonged to an android, their model, and serial number. All he has to do is lick the evidence to get a real-time result, often grossing Hank out. But more than that, he can also identify DNA, Drugs, and other things like that.

Aside from his investigative abilities, he also has a social module that allows him to adapt to humans much easier and be able to integrate himself better. He's about to adopt much faster to changes. As well has his ability to investigate a scene, he can also interrogate and even act as a negotiator, as seen in the first chapter of the game. In order to do so, on occasion he has to tell a few lies here and there, but he's able to do so without giving that off by his LED light.

He's also able to imitate other voices, as long as he's had exposure to another person's voice in some way. You can see this used while he was looking for a lead in the evidence room and later on with the CyberLife elevator. While it's not solely a skill that only Connor can use, he's also able to convert others to deviancy (as seen in the CyberLife tower). He can also probe other androids' memories for information or to share information with another android.

Most androids are forbidden to use any weapons, but Connor is able to use them as well as fight without them if need be. Seen on multiple occasions, he's very fit and can keep up with Deviants when they give chase with ease; despite their parkour. Even thought he can use a gun just fine, he never has one on hand unless he's in the middle of an investigation and it calls to use one. Once he's done with it, he generally takes out the ammo and either throws it aside or hands it to a police officer.

While in my gameplay I did my best to keep him alive, CyberLife is always ready to deploy another RK800 model in the situation that he somehow dies. Since Amanda is apart of his programming and acts as a "Deviancy check" throughout the game, his memories are constantly backed up. Given the moment Connor is killed, a new one will be deployed with those memories, with some data loss from time to time. Once he comes back though, he'll be reset to the way he was initially with Software Instability being in check again.

Third-Person Sample: The war was over. Things were -- slowly -- dying down after everything that's happened. All around him, he saw androids exhibiting emotions of their own and their own desires. Sometimes he just took a seat somewhere and doing a bit of people watching. To see how humans were interacting with androids and how androids were acting now that they had their own free will. It was a bit jarring to see. All of this time, he'd been a complaint machine simply doing what it took to follow orders, but now he was one of them. He was a Deviant.

It seemed like the others had this all figured out by now. They knew what they wanted, for the most part. If anyone asked Connor, he had no idea. Not that freedom was bad or anything, but it was just something he never really put much thought into. He never once thought all of those emotions that he was emulating for this long would actually mean something to him.

And god were these emotions getting the better of him. He often kept them to himself and refrained from saying much about himself, but of all the emotions he felt, guilt was the one that constantly plagued his mind.

It was his fault that Jericho was attacked and so many people died. It was his fault for not seeing how he was being used by CyberLife and Amanda in the end. He was a fool. Guilt and shame were the most present, but Markus had continued to insist that everything was okay now. That it was all in the past. Even if Connor kept how he felt to himself, Markus always seemed to know that it was bothering him. Probably because he already had an idea of how bad Connor felt about how things went down.

He was getting by, but it was definitely a challenge. The only thing he knew that he wanted was that he enjoyed working for the DPD and he liked being Hank's partner. He liked Sumo and he enjoyed spending time with a crotchety old lieutenant with a lot of personal issues. He knew he wanted to support Hank as much as he could.

But how could an android who didn't even know what to do with his freedom help him past his investigative prowess? Reaching to his forehead, his fingers lingered over his LED. Markus and Kara had both taken their LEDs off, as well as other Deviants he'd hunted before. Maybe he should consider taking his off as well? He didn't particularly have a reason to, but he was just a little conflicted about how to proceed.

All of these thoughts were interrupted as he jolted back out of his mind with something suddenly heavy on his lap. Looking off to the side, he saw Sumo looking up to him with what looked to be a concerned expression. He couldn't help but look a bit bewildered for a moment before realizing and giving off a little sigh.

"I'm sorry. Were you concerned about me?" he finally spoke to giant of a dog looking to him. He gave him a small bittersweet smile as Sumo nuzzled him lightly. He finally pet him gently, "Thanks, Sumo. I'm okay. You don't need to worry about me."
First-Person Sample: [Here have a confused android on your feed. He seems to have quickly figure out the comm. settings at the very least.]

This is... strange. The last I checked I was at the DPD.

I can't seem to contact the Lieutenant. Is there wifi connection here? At the very least cellular signals?

[Taking in this strange new environment...]

This can't be Detroit, so just where did I end up?

If anybody has any information, I'd appreciate your assistance. I assume there are others who can hear this, at least, right?

Oh right. My name is Connor. I'm the android sent by-- [Wait.] Uh... I'm just an android, I suppose. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
